Music is the divine way to tell beautiful, poetic things to the heart.
Pablo Casals
Every Valentines Day the chorus sends quartets out to sing to men and women. Their spouses or admirers express their feelings of love with a musical tribute. We sing at businesses or at personal residencies. We cover all four counties on the mid-shore. We also do birthday or anniversary celebrations.
for awarding a grant to The Bay Country Chorus, in recognition of the comfort & joy that our performances bring to elders and others on the Mid-Shore.
The Bay Country Chorus is the Easton Maryland Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society and sings four-part harmony in the Barbershop style. The chorus has been entertaining throughout the mid-shore since 1995. The Bay Country Chorus provides a deep reservoir of musical arrangements including old standards, current popular tunes and doo wop. Men and women of all ages are welcome to join the chorus. Stop in, at Brooklets Place, and observe one of our rehearsals to see if barbershop singing may be for you. For information, please call John Crovo, current president at 410-820-4761 or jcrovo@goeaston.net.
Lesley returned to Easton from Florida. She became our VP of Music & Artistic Director in March 2022. Her experience with barbershop-style quartets and leadership talents brought her to our chorus. Lesley holds degrees from Towson University in Piano and Voice Performance and is classically trained. Since taking the helm, Leslie has grown the repertoire of our chorus and enlisted female singers. She expanded musical scores to highlight the range of our gifted singers. Her work has attracted new audiences, resulting in more enjoyment for all. With Lesley's leadership, we are building the group as the
best choir on the mid-shore singing four-part harmony.
Our rewards come from the many smiling faces on our audience and the thank yous we receive after a performance. Much of our singing is before seniors who might not be able to get out and enjoy live music. Quite simply, we bring the music to them. It is indeed a pleasure for our group to bring a little sunshine to these very special citizens.
Keep the Whole World Singing - why not join us?
Our performances encourage feelings of social connections and remind us of enjoyable times. Our musical program features songs familiar to all, with easily singable melodies. We increase the fun and humor by inviting willing audience members to participate. In this photo, a gentleman from Bailey Chase joined us in singing My Wild Irish Rose. A Happy Birthday salute sung in four-part harmony is part of the program.
The chorus is in the process of updating our current repertoire. As we dust off many of our all-time favorites we are adding new songs which will appeal to all of our audiences. With a wide variety of song titles, we can prepare a song list that will be enjoyable to any audience. For information on scheduling a performance please call 410-820-4761 or respond through the contact button on this website. https://baycountrychorus.com/contact..
It has been known for centuries that music has health benefits going back to early philosophers and thinkers. Especially with people dealing with dementia. So often with patients who have had a stroke and find it hard to speak but will come alive when they hear a song they recognize and begin to sing along.
Studies are currently underway to determine how music and dementia fit. For our part the Bay Country Chorus continues to perform at senior living facilities and at venues where citizens are dealing with dementia or may be in rehab. Many cannot get out and enjoy live music. Quite simply we bring the music to them.
